Just a Little Bio of the Novelist :D Suzanne Collins (and the whole book)

Hii!! this is a little biography of the creator of "The Hunger Games" book series.

Suzanne Collins was born in 1967 (47) in Connecticut. Suzanne has been writing children's stories since 1991 (wow) and children cartoons from Nickelodeon. She published her famous book in 2008 which is the novels "the hunger games" series; b

ooks that has all the characteristics of a perfect book that would keep you in the edge of your seats.

THE FIRST NOVEL OF "THE HUNGER GAMES" SERIES

It'll keep you to the edge of your seat as I say and so it begins with our most important character Katniss Everdeen who is a 16 year old girl who has the responsibility of taking care of her family after her fathers tragic death, All she has left is her sister Primrose (prim) and her mother and a utterly disgusting cat name Buttercup in which Katniss despises. Katniss became the family provider since she was 11 and prim was 7, Imagine yourself in that spot of responsibility, That person whose being counted on so her family would be alive.

"Panem" is where they say they live (somewhere in "North America"), "A place where you can starve to death in safety" some says, Panem, District 12 is surrounded by an electricity fence where you can get electrocuted any time of day, People say its on 24/7 but Katniss seems to prove them wrong, How? you may ask, well everyday Katniss goes out to the woods with her Bow and Arrow to hunt food for her family. There was originally 13 districts but the 13th district rebelled and Panem and the Capitol had to destroy it, and a result to prevent this rebellion to happen again they created the worst thing possible The Hunger Games. There is now 12 districts in which Katniss and her love ones lives in,and the 12th district is far worse than any district compared to others.

Every district must give 2 tributes, 1 boy and 1 girl, in total 24 tributes will be "lucky" to play. more like Risk there lives. and out of those 24 one will remain and be triumphant. What about the others you might ask? well death has come for them. Do you know whose going to be chosen in district 12?drum role please, well our very own Primrose Everdeen! but guess what?, when Katniss heard Effie announce she felt like fainting, i mean wouldn't you? if you found out that your younger sister or brother gets chosen to fight to the death?!?!?! anyways Katniss volunteered to take her place, bravery comes in hand considering shes the family provider she needs to protect her. The hunger games or the reaping is celebrated like a festival to take away the frightful thought of some parents kids going to fight.

Now hmmmmmmmmmm. Who may the male tribute be? Peeta Mellark (to know infooo look at our second post) you see Katniss already knows him and Peeta has a secret love for her but throughout games he protests his love towards her. If you think about it the love that Peeta has for her is very useful for Katniss, you see peeta cares for her and so he does his best to keep her alive in the games even if he has to get alliances to protect her...(aawwweeee. . how sweet).

ALLIANCES

As i talked about before this paragraph Peeta has formed an Alliance with the "rich" part of the districts 1-5... Katniss also already formed an alliances with a little girl named Rue who is 12 years old and why did she form an alliance with her? because Rue resembles her sister Prim who she miss so much, but sadly Rue didn't make it, she was speared to her death, and Katniss was caring enough to put flowers on around her till her spirits gone. (i bet Rues parents her devastated).

(devastated sigh) the love of Peeta has been more and more revealed to Katniss and they got to know each other more. But theres a TWIST to this now they have to fight each other!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! HOLY CHEESE AND CRACKERS!!. now I'm (sheanica) going to leave the rest to my wonderful group member John Paul to continue this exciting review. (our first thought was to make a main idea for each chapter but it was too much so we decided to highlight on the key points.)

Well as we left of we were rude enough to cut you off of Peeta (sorry) well as we know now he's the male tribute of district 12 (how shocking) but now to know more about this Peeta Mellark, well Katniss already knows Peeta before this "reaping" day has come! how you may

ask? Well while Katniss was still 11 she struggled to provide food for her family, she turned to sell Prims baby clothes to the market and no one seemed to buy it (tear), after failing to get any money for food she turned to the alley ways and garbage cans to look for food thats still could be eaten,

and then that moment Peeta saw her struggling, and was kind enough to sneak out some bread while his vicious of a mom wasn't looking, I guess Katniss didn't remember till this day what he has done for her since she didn't mention him in the first chapter. Do you think Katniss woul

d feel obligated to do something for him?, well to me i would feel like it because well he did help

me keep my family from starving and if it wasn't for him me an

d my family wouldn't be here, if Peeta never gave that bread a whole chain of things would've happened. Heck this book wouldn't even be a book because Katniss's family would be dead and she wou

ldn't have anyone to provide food for but her self.

As our peppy announcer Effie trinket says " May the Odds be ever in your favor" what does that really

mean??? We want your opinion. :D

n "why him" as Katniss says in the book but really why Peeta out of all the male in the district, it has to be the guy who she never spoke to ever since the first encounter, the guy who she doesn't even live next to and is not her friend, why couldn't it have been Gale his name has been in the bin 42 times it's a miracle that he has not been chosen. (wowza) but then again if Gale has been chosen it would be heartbreaking to see Katniss fight Gale after what he has done for her.

Theres 24 of them. and one will survive. and Katniss's thoughts "There will be twenty-four of us.Odds are someone else would kill him before I do" . . . I think its pretty obvious that she doesn't want to compete with Peeta is hoping someone else would get to him. Now seeing that she thought of this how much do you think Katniss' cares of Peeta.

The Hunger Games has all the characteristics of a perfect book, it has Romance, Action, Suspense, Comedy, Thrill, and Drama. So be ready for the nerve- wrecking Novel "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins and "The Hunger Games" is just he beginning of the thrilling book series.

Chapter 1(parts of Chapter 2) : "Tributes" it all begins in a city called "Panem" a place

somewhere in North America, Katniss Everdeen who is 16 who has taken the job as provider for her sister and her mother, and disgusting cat named Buttercup, Katniss had the taken the responsibility as a provider for her family since the age of 11 and her sister being seven at the time, she took it upon herself

being the eldest child after her father had gotten in a mine explosion and got incinerated.

There were originally 13 districts but one was full of destruction and rebellion having to the 13th district to be eliminated, and that was the start of The hunger games. To keep from rebellion they created this yearly game.

District 12 is where Katniss herself and her family live in. The games consist of hunting. Hunting people. Katniss finds herself in a situation of death and survival, if you survive you feed your family, if not. Well you can guess what happens. . .

Katniss has the courage and strength to take on the place of her sister Primrose Everdeen at the annual and yearly game of the "Hunger Games", a fight to win of food supply for her starving family and the district. A Fight to the death. Leaving her loved ones behind. But is the hunger really worth it? Do you think Katniss made the right choice of volunteering for her sister? do you think that when Primrose gets chosen again will Katniss be at her side swooping down for her rescue?.If you look at the first paragraph of the chapter it says

"When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold. My

fingers stretch out, seeking Prim’s warmth but finding only

the rough canvas cover of the mattress. She must have had

bad dreams and climbed in with our mother. Of course, she

did. This is the day of the reaping."

This immediately gave me the sense of "the Reaping" wasn't good. it's not. It seemed like Katniss wasn't abig fan of this day, seeing the fact that she mentioned Prim climbing on to her mother's bed because of bad dreams caused by the reaping this day is NOT good at all. . . . (dun dun dun)

The hunger games are also known as the day of the reaping, it is celebrated like yearly festival to keep people from being afraid. Every district must have 2 people, one girl and one boy chosen to play the game. Having 12 districts and 2 people chosen that will be 24 who will fight to death and one. Just one. Will win. Who will it be?. . Take out your thinking caps and *think* :D. . .

Do you think it's appropriate for putting the games on live broadcast to let the whole world to see the death of one's family loved ones?

In stories there's always a Romance part right??? RIGHT, well Katniss has her own love story with a guy named Gale who she have known for 7 years, (that's a long time) Katniss has been seeing Gale at the forest every day to hunt food and just talk (how sweet) . Throughout her days and years with Gale she began to gather feelings leading her to have crush on him, I (Shean Ica) think that he likes her back seeing the fact that he does help her a lot with food and her family, I'm so opinionated and kept blabbing on about random things i totally forgot to tell you about Gale, well Gale is 18 years old and is described as "straight black hair, olive skin, and gray" Gale has have had his name on the yearly pick of The Hunger Games about more than 45 just to get a tessera an option to draw your names 5 times in the box in which it gives you a supply of food, just to provide food for his father and sister just like Katniss. He is Compassionate, caring, and loving (who wouldn't like him? he-he). OOOOH but wait there's a conflict a guy named Peeta who has asecret crush on Katniss for a very long time (a twist i love it!) but wait this love triangle

is not the end. Peeta gets to be in The hunger games too!!!! wow, if you were to be in Katniss's shoes right now who would you choose??? (that's a toughy, for me in that case) if it meant to save your family would you kill your own friend? why?.

My 8th graders now in any class if you guys think of it in a way that its kind of like the story of "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson i mean you get to have a yearly draw and everyone in the town has their names on it and a person needs to pick out one name, just like the "Hunger

Games" they also have an annual draw for a certain need, and both stories consist of someone dying, in this case "the lottery" the people has to be stoned to death while

"the Hunger games" is teens killing teens.

Each year as you grow and get older your name gets tossed in the "lottery" giving you a more chance of getting picked for the games (YIKES), what impresses me is that Gale has been in the bin for 42 times and yet he has not gotten picked (LUCKY, but I don't want him to get picked, he has had a hard time so all fingers crossed that he won't get picked :P)

Another story that "the Hunger Games" is like "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell, the story is about a stranded stranger that finds a man (Zaroff) that's famous back where Rainsford's (the stranded person) from, little did he know the man who lived in the island, he got stranded on hunted people for FUN, and Rainsford has to fight to survive, just like Katniss does. . . . .

Might I mention Haymitch? the guy who has a winning streak of the "hunger games" was DRUNK! at the on reaping, what kind of legend like that gets drunk in a once in a year gathering??. Wow kind of a disgrace on national T.V isn't it? Well at least i think so, and Effie their peppy announcer didn't do anything about him drinking what a nice way to get a start on the "Games".

Do you know that saying "to be is not to be"? If you put it in a way of "The Hunger Games" it would be "Kill or be killed", Either you kill for your survival or just be killed with no reason. Wouldn't you want to at least pass away with something you have done not what you have wish you did?. both of these stories are both Inhumane at least I think so :D (Shean Ica). :D
